This is an original vintage, double strand necklace of saltwater cultured pearls with a diamond & ruby clasp that was made during the 1950s. This cocktail necklace originates from Germany and it is signed JKA. The clasp is handmade from 14K white gold and it is stamped 585. The back plate of the clasp has a slight yellow gold tint. The clasp is set with 7 brilliant cut diamonds of G-H color, VS2 clarity that weigh approx. .25 ctw. It is also set with 7 natural red rubies that are faceted round shapes weighing approx. .40 ctw. The clasp measures almost 3/4” long by 11/16” at the widest point and it has 1 7.4 mm pearl set in the center. classic 1950s wire work design. There are 2 strands of saltwater cultured white pearls made up of 106 pearls. The pearls measure 7.5 - 7.9 mm, and since they are not graduated, you can wear the clasp to the front if you want to display it. These pearls have a very light creamy hue with few minor blemishes and they have beautiful luster, along with being perfectly matched. The necklace is princess to matinee length with the strands measuring 19.25” and 20” long. It weighs 76 grams and has good strings with a few thicker knots near the clasp.
