This is an ORIGINAL VINTAGE, DOUBLE STRAND NECKLACE of SALTWATER CULTURED PEARLS with a DIAMOND & SAPPHIRE CLASP. It was made during the 1950s and the clasp is HANDMADE from PLATINUM with an 18K white gold tongue slide. The clasp is set with 7 BAGUETTE DIAMONDS of H-I color, VVS to VS clarity that weigh approx. 1.60 ctw. This clasp has an ILLUSION SETTING - it looks like solid diamonds radiating outwards, but there is a space of polished platinum between the diamonds. The clasp is centrally prong-set with 1 NATURAL BLUE SAPPHIRE that is a faceted OVAL shape weighing approx. 1.60 ct. This sapphire measures 7.83 x 6.19 x 3.36 mm. The clasp measures 9/16"? by 1/2"?. FABULOUS COCKTAIL DESIGN with TONS OF SPARKLE! There are 2 STRANDS of SALTWATER CULTURED WHITE PEARLS made up of 143 PEARLS. The pearls measure 6.6 - 9.6 mm. The largest pearls are NOT strung in the center of the strand, they are strung 1/4 way down so that they would be positioned in the center when the clasp is worn to the front. Another unusual thing about this strand is that the two strands are about the same size, 23"? and 23.25"? so they overlap and would be worn with the strands twisted once (or more, up to you) before closing the clasp. Otherwise, they would be sitting on top of each other. The pearls have a slight creamy hue with pink overtones and there are very few minor blemishes that you must intently look for. The pearls have good luster and they are PERFECTLY MATCHED! The necklace is MATINEE LENGTH and it weighs 79.5 grams. The strands can be restrung if you want them to vary in length or the largest pearls placed in a different location, please inquire, and a few of the knots are dirty. Many more vintage and antique pearl necklaces available. *Note - Antique pearls were cultured for a longer time than the modern pearls of today. Therefore, they have thicker nacre and are of higher quality. Pearls are the most difficult thing to photograph to show their true quality and color, but all of my past customers have been more than pleased with the pearls they received.
