This is an ORIGINAL VINTAGE, DOUBLE STRAND NECKLACE of SALTWATER CULTURED PEARLS with a DIAMOND & SAPPHIRE CLASP. It ORIGINATES FROM ARGENTINA was made during the 1940s. The clasp is HANDMADE from PLATINUM and it is stamped 750, ARGENTINA, plus has OLD STAMPS and is NUMBERED. The clasp is set with 14 OLD MINE CUT DIAMONDS of J-K color, SI to I clarity that weigh approx. .55 ctw. - one diamond has a chip on the girdle, but you need magnification to see it. The clasp is channel-set with 28 NATURAL BLUE SAPPHIRE that weigh approx. .80 ctw. It is my opinion that 2 of the sapphires have been reset. The clasp measures 15/16"? long by 9/16"? at the widest point. The back of the clasp has unknown black marks. I polishing wheel may remove them, but simple cleaning did not. FABULOUS COCKTAIL DESIGN with a CLASSIC ART DECO DESIGN! There are 2 STRANDS of SALTWATER CULTURED WHITE PEARLS made up of 146 INDIVIDUALLY KNOTTED PEARLS. The pearls measure 7.54 - 7.9 mm. The pearls have a light creamy hue with a slight pink overtone and there are very few, very minor blemishes that you must look for to see. The pearls have good luster and they are PERFECTLY MATCHED! The necklace is MATINEE LENGTH, with the longer strand measuring 25"? and the total weight is 98.7 grams. The string is somewhat dark from age, but it can be restrung, especially if you want to alter the length at all, to maybe better suit you. The necklace has a safety chain that is not originally and I will leave it for the new owner to decide where to cut it off or not. Many more vintage and antique pearl necklaces available. *Note - Antique pearls were cultured for a longer time than the modern pearls of today. Therefore, they have thicker nacre and are of higher quality. Pearls are the most difficult thing to photograph to show their true quality and color, but all of my past customers have been more than pleased with the pearls they received.
