Description

R. Korthage Carved Mahogany Grandfather Clock. 12 in. silvered dial with applied gilt brass hour numbers, brass dial plate with pierced figural and filigree carved corner spandrels and center, silvered sub seconds dial, moon phase dial and pierced blued hands. Brass 8 day weight driven movement signed “R. Korthage, Pat. April 14th, 1885” has Graham deadbeat escapement, maintaining power, pierced brass 6 spoke pulleys, quality 2 tone silvered and gilt brass covered weights and brass covered pendulum bon with wood stick; quarter hour Westminster strike on 4 coiled gongs and hour strike on a fifth coiled gong, has Silent-Chime switch on the dial, in good condition, running and striking. In a beautiful mahogany case with turned finials, arched crest, filigree carving, turned columns with carved capitols, carved door with glass panel and wonderful carved base on claw feet. In excellent condition with no damage, has a very nice refinish. 102.5 in. high x 28 in. wide x 19.5 in. deep.
