Description
John & William Ridgway (English, 1814-1830) Wedgwood (English, founded 1759). Three pieces of early transferware comprising a matched pair of Ridgway shaped soup bowls, pattern 1047, in a chinoiserie Chinese vase pattern along with a Wedgwood serving bowl in iron red with blue and white floral motif. Approximate height of Ridgway bowls 1.37", diameter 9.75" and marked on the backside in underglaze blue "Stone China/J. & W.R." and "1047" in red underglaze. Approximate height of Wedgwood 3.25", width 8.62", depth 8.37" and marked with impressed "WEDGWOOD", "R", "3RP". Provenance: Property from the Private Collection of Mrs. Nancy Rutledge Pogue, Blufton, South Carolina (wife of Mr. William Pogue, who served as an heir to the H. & S. Pogue Company department store chain based in Cincinnati, Ohio).
