Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A bichrome vessel, representing a parrot, a bird highly revered by the ancients of the Americas, particularly favored for its colorful feathers. They avian vessel form boasts a rounded body, protruding wings and tail, and is perched on its feet. Its face, with those pierced eyes and that noble curved beak presents a surprisingly solemn demeanor. Nicely burnished, boasting highly saturated red hues. Size: 5.875" L x 4.25" H (14.9 cm x 10.8 cm)
