Description
A pair of cute Colima black-ware effigy vessels, West Mexico, c. 100 BC - AD 200, the first in the form of a seated figure wearing a turban-style headdress, hands at sides of head and the body of the vessel decorated with vertical hatches. 3 1/8 x 2 3/8 in (5.3 x 6 cm). The second is in the form of a standing figure holding a vessel on back. 2 1/2 x 2 3/8 in (6.3 x 6 cm). Both with beautiful black surface and pierced with two holes near the rim for suspension. Ex Southern California private collection acquired in 1970's & 1980's.
