Description
French Louis XV Style Gilt Spelter Figural Mantle Clock, 19th c., time and strike by Samuel Marti, with a drum clock with flag surmount and porcelain chapter marks, flanked by a standing figure of a knight with sword and spear, on a shaped incised base with relief decoration, with pendulum and key, H.- 18 3/4 in., W.- 11 1/2 in., D.- 5 7/8 in.
Condition
Condition consistent with age and use. Apparent repair to the tip of one flag and one flag tip lacking. Scattered flea-size brown spots on numerals. Apparent repair to two cracks in the frame around the face. Spear slightly bent. Light wear throughout gilt but heavy wear intermittently throughout soldier and base. Pendulum and key present. Not tested for working order. A handsome piece.
