French Louis XVI Style Gilt Bronze Mantel Clock, 19th c., by Japy Freres, the pierced Gothic spire domed top with a central relief winged cherub's head over an arched painted ceramic tile case with a time and strike clock flanked by reeded columns, the sides with relief winged gryphon handles, on a stepped base on stepped block legs, lacking the pendulum, H.- 18 1/4 in., W.- 7 1/8 in., D.- 6 in.
Condition
The ceramic face has three spider-form cracks, and there is also a crack to the right side. The pendulum is lacking, as is the winding key. The small knob that holds the hands in place is lacking. The side mounts have loose screws. Bronze elements are in overall good condition with no losses or repairs, only light accretions and oxidation. Working condition is unknown.
