Description
A FRENCH LOUIS XV STYLE GILT BRONZE "ALLEGORY OF MUSIC" CARTEL CLOCK, LATE 19TH CENTURY, a figure of Cupid strums a lyre, his wings open over billowy clouds falling over an architectural pediment above an enameled Arabic numeral painted dial with double escapements, the clockworks marked with an effaced pastille medal as well as engraved numbers "1462," "58," and "37," above a grille enclosed by leafy swirls. Height: 21" Width: 11" Depth: 4" Provenance: Lifelong Collection of Clocks and Antiques, Navasota, Texas.
Condition
Patina, surface wear, dust and expected wear, the pastille medal identifying clockwork maker purposefully removed, unfortunate damage, but overall in good to very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
