Description

Rare, Large Paris Porcelain Empire Premiere Figural Corbeille, first quarter 19th century, of bateau form, the base resting on unusual paw feet framed by vertical medallions, decorated with molded, matte-finish classical ornament, including anthemia and wreathed masques, the top of the base in matte cobalt with gilt tracery and butterflies, beneath the figures of white biscuit kneeling angels supporting the gilded basket with molded acanthus leaves on each side, h. 13-3/4", w. 15-3/4", d. 8".

Condition

The base has been over-painted blue and gilt stenciled. There are scattered losses to the gilding, mostly around the base edges and paw feet. In overall good condition with no visible losses, cracks or repairs.
