[SILK SUSPENSION CLOCK]. French Empire Victoire Silk Suspension Mantle Clock, First Consul - Early First Empire Period. [France, ca. 1799-1804]. A lovely French figural gilt bronze mantle clock featuring a full standing robed woman holding a wreath in victory. A rare clock in this form, it probably dates from the Consulate period of 1799-1804, before Napoleon elected himself Emperor. Approximately 8 x 11 x 2 /2”. The front of the case is mounted with ribbons, garlands and filigree, silk thread movement and a porcelain dial with moon hands. Overall fine condition with slight bend near rear leg. Untested.
