Description
Bronze Buddha attributed to the Northern Wei dynasty but likely from the 19th century. This Buddha figure is standing with one hand raised and the other lowered, holding items. The mandorla behind the Buddha is ornately patterned and in flame-form. The mandorla detaches from the Buddha and is inscribed with calligraphy on the back side. The Buddha stands on a four footed plinth and a lotus base.
Dimensions are 4 5/8 inches wide by 10 7/8 inches high. All measurements are approximate.
Provenance: From a Chicago estate, family was in China in the early 1900's.

It is in overall good condition. The back comes off easily.
