Freud congratulates his correspondent on ‘the merging of your journal with that of Hirschfeld’ and adds that he expects ‘it will strengthen its significance in a very special manner’. The psychoanalyst continues with a request of his correspondent, ‘Today, I would like to ask you to send to press a small but very important article prepared by our colleague Ferenczi, from Budapest, who wrote it partly under my influence. This theoretical work is entitled “Introjection and Transference”. It will have only a few pages but, for a number of reasons, it should appear a few months before a paper of mine to be published in the “Annual of Psychoanalytical Research”’ and concludes ‘Therefore, February or March, or at the latest April, should be the date for your publication’.
