Description

Autograph manuscript of treatise "The Strategy of Freedom: An Open Letter to American Students", signed "Harold J. Laski" on title page and inscribed "For Felix 1914-41", three-quarter blue morocco and cloth, gilt lettering to spine, marbled endpapers, light yellowing and creasing to paper, hardback, 4to, [no place], c. 1941. Writing before America's intervention in the Second World War, Laski uses the arguments of 'a British Socialist on the Left' to convince American students of the importance of a British victory against Fascism. Laski's knowledge and interest in American students derived from his time as lecturer at McGill University in Montreal (1914-1916) and at Harvard (1916-1920).
