Description
Greece, Cyprus, Archaic Period, ca. 7th century BCE. A pottery jug with twin high, curving handles, a very narrow neck, and a flared, wide rim. The jar is painted in deep brown and black pigments, with a series of concentric circles looking very much like the rings on an archery target around the shoulder and tight, thin concentric parallel lines that go fully around the body below them. These "target" patterns are common in Cypriot pottery specific to this time period - it must have been a trendy fashion! Size: 3.2" W x 4.9" H (8.1 cm x 12.4 cm)
