Description
The playful white lines in the vase were created by inlaying slip-clay into decorative incisions carved into a fresh underglaze. The work would have been then over-glazed and fired to achieve this affect. This type of Korean pottery has been long been appreciated in Japan for its delicately contrasting design, its pleasing color and the exotic atmosphere it creates in the tea-room.
