Description
Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Nariño, ca. 1250 CE. Beautiful and musical too, a Nariño pottery flute of a shape akin to an abstract seashell form, decorated with bichrome red and cream negative resist, a Nariño signature technique, featuring an abstract rendering of a fox in composite profile on the body and an eight-pointed star on the circular terminus. Four blow/finger holes for creating sweet, dulcet sounds - two perforations through one end for suspension as well. A fabulous Pre-Columbian wind musical instrument! Size: 6.25" L x 2.625" W (15.9 cm x 6.7 cm)
