Description
1st-3rd century AD. A mixed group of chariot fittings comprising: two conical fittings with loop terminals and ivy-leaf detailing and two similar with scooped extension to one edge; a bronze terret with vine-leaf detail and knop; a plain bronze terret with C-section plate; six bronze terrets with ring beneath the plaque; three terrets with a spike and three with D-shaped loop; two discoid plaques with a loop beneath; a length of iron chain with bronze double-links; two small rings with bronze straps; a length of iron chain. 4 kg total, 7-15.5cm (2 3/4 - 6"). Property of a Surrey collector; acquired in the early 1970s. [24]
