This quite attractive map of New York state is Buchon's French edition of the Carey and Lea Atlas. The counties are color coded and plenty of topographical, transportation related (canals, roads) and settlement details are offered in the map. The 'Grand canal' elevation profile is prominently displayed. The text includes wonderful contemporary details concerning the topography, indigenous lands, rivers, climate, towns, manufacturing, commerce, education, history, population by county, and other information.
