Description
Colt reintroduced the 1851 Navy as a continuation of the originals in 1971. The early examples were some of the finest of all of the black powder series, being virtually identical to the original Civil War issue. This consecutive numbered set dates to the 1971 to 1973 era. Both feature the high polish factory blue octagon barrel; blued cylinders with Naval battle scene; case colored loading lever, frame and hammer; and silver plated square back trigger guard and backstrap with one piece varnished walnut grips. Neither of these pistols appear to have ever been fired. Aside from a few storage marks, they appear in near new condition inside and out. They are as handsome as anything turned out by Colt in the 19th century. Very early production and worthy of a double gun display case. Serial Number-(A)16429, (B) 16430; Manufacturer-Colt; Model-1851; Caliber-.36 percussion; Barrel Length-7 - 1/2"; FFL Status-Antique;
