Manufactured in 1862. Features five shot, single action percussion. Has the 1860 style streamline barrel, rebated fluted cylinder with 1850 patent date. Matching numbers on barrel, cylinder, wedge, frame, trigger guard and back strap. These guns were slow sellers in the Colt line and a large number of them were converted to centerfire cartridges after the Civil War making surviving percussion examples difficult to find. The barrel and cylinder retain approximately 60% original blue finish mixing with gun metal grey and soft brown patina. Cylinder has the original nipples but the safety pins are flattened. Original one piece walnut grips with 70% original varnish. 70% original nickel plating on back strap and trigger guard. Razor sharp legends. Frame colors have turned grey. Wedge is loose and cylinder indexes sporadically and needs some internal attention. Has a strong clean bore and comes with a Colt marked two cavity bullet mold.
