Manufactured 1947. This as new L.C. Smith shotgun is literally never found in the original box. The end label matches perfectly to this shotgun. It is basically a manila box with black and white label. When examining the interior of this shotgun, it does not appear to have ever been fired and looks to have only been assembled a couple of times. It is a side lock with top barrel release, tang safety, double set triggers, blued trigger guard, case colored frame. Frame retains virtually all of its original case colors and trigger retains virtually all of its original blue. Both left side screws have slight mar from someone tightening. Frame is stamped "L.C. Smith" on outside of locks and "Field" stamped inside of frame. Pistol grip walnut stocks are near mint. Metal pistol grip cap shows some browning. Has a dealer applied Pachmayr red waffle pad that was probably put on when delivered. A hint of finish checking at flutes. Has a splinter walnut forearm that shows the gun has been taken apart a few times, but is still near new. Barrels retain nearly all of their original high polish blue finish and feature single bead front sight with full solid matted rib, manual ejectors. Barrel lugs do show a couple spots of wear on high edges. "L.C. Smith Field Grade" on barrels. A bit of thinning at breech of left barrel, a couple of storage marks and mirror bores. Box has all dividers and no paperwork. If this gun was ever fired, it was carefully disassembled, cleaned and placed in its original box. Serial Number-S12777; Manufacturer-L.C.
