Description
4,999 commercial Model 1911 pistols were manufactured in 1924 and Colt made a special run of 10,000 U.S. marked pistols for the military that same year. The first run since 1919 which limited civilian production. These are often referred to as the transition models as they were developing the A1 model that went into full production in 1925 making this one of the scarcer production years for Colt civilian models. This pistol remains in phenomenal condition. The grip straps are thinning a bit with a smooth patina. There is an ever so light drag line. Otherwise the frame and slide retain about 98% of the brilliant factory blue finish. Has all early features including smooth, long trigger, checkered slide stop and safety, smooth mainspring housing and lanyard ring, short checkered wide spur hammer, second type standard rear sight with full checkered walnut grip panels. Comes with a near mint commercial two tone magazine not stamped on bottom. Fine bore and action. Extremely high condition transition model.
