Description
Spanish Colonial, Central America or Mexico, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. Outstanding carved wooden Santos of unknown Saint carved with long flowing robes, wide expressive eyes, tight cropped eyes and most remarkably, and something we have not encountered before, an articulated lower jaw. The jaw moves with the aid of a small metal rod that is inserted from the base. Lovely original green pigment and a deep patinated surface. A wonderful example! Size: 3.5" W x 7" H (8.9 cm x 17.8 cm)
