Alexandre Gregoire (Haitian/Jacmel, 1922-2001), Family House by the Sea, c. 1968
Oil on masonite, Framed, 24" x 24"
A musician and military saxophone player, Gregoire, with the encouragement of the artists Gerard Valcin and Prefete Duffaut, joined the Centre d’Art, Port-au-Prince, in the late 1950s. Gregoire is renowned for the whimsy of his Vodou inspired and everyday scenes.
