Approx. 200 pages. Handwritten in pencil with some ink, recording courses, wind conditions, drift, latitude, longitude, and myriad calculations relating thereto. 33.5x21.5 cm (13¼x8½"), half leather & cloth.
Navigator's course and calculation book for voyages in the Pacific of three vessels in the service of the Pacific Mail Steamship Co., the S.S. Colombia, the S.S. San Juan, and the S.S. Colusa. Stops and destinations include San Francisco, Mazatlan, Shanghai, Manila, Hong Kong, Yokohama, Honolulu, etc., with the latter port providing the nexus for many of the voyages. There is an original photograph of the steamship West Conob laid in (it is rather crudely mounted on a period card). The West Conob initially sailed for the Pacific Mail Steamship Company and circumnavigated the globe twice by 1921.
