Description
A grouping of two raised compotes/tazzas. Both solid cast bronze. The first is a turned compote with a gilt Neo-Classical Bas-Relief in center. Displays two robed figures pouring water or wine. Stamp Signed F. LEVILLAIN / SUSSE FRES. Done by prominent French sculptor Ferdinand Levillain (Paris, 1837-1905), a student of Jouffroy (1806-1882). France, late 19th century. Measurements: 9.25" outer diameter, 5" plaque diameter, 3.25" high and weighs about 2 lbs. 10 oz. The other piece in the lot is a reticulated cast bronze tazza compote, also with a Bas-Relief plaque up top. Displays a portrait of a noble or clergyman. Also dates to the late 1800's.
