A Madonna and Child Terracotta Sculpture after Lorenzo Ghiberti of Italy.Important stamped & numbered almost a life size bust measuring 25 inches tall x 19 1/2 inches wide by 8 depth.Lorenzo Ghiberti (1378-1455) was born in Pelago Italy as Lorenzo di Bartolo, He was an Italian Renaissance sculptor from Florence, a key figure in the Early Renaissance, best known as the creator of two sets of bronze doors of the Florence Baptistery, the later one called by Michelangelo the Gates of Paradise. He was influenced by Michelangelo, Masolino da Panicale, Bernardo Rossellino. Similar painted Busts are on display in the Metropolitan Museum , Isabella Gardner museum, The Cleveland Museum of art and The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art.
