This beautifully composed oil painting of white blossoms in sunlight and cool shadow was painted by Noank Connecticut artist Jim Mitchell around 1989. Located on the coast between Mystic and Old Lyme Connecticut, Noank has been home to an active group of marine and landscape artists since the early 1900's. This painting is unusual, in that its focus is a transitional moment of sunlight on a tiny flower. Painted in oil on a prepared mahogany panel, it is signed on the front and noted with the artist's studio address on the back. There is also a partial invoice from a gallery or framer, dated 1989. Painting size is 20"x16" Frame size is approx. 25"x21" The painting is in excellent condition. The frame shows mild wear.
