Description
Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Vera Cruz, ca. 550 to 950 CE. Earth colored terracotta figure of a female dancer holding a spirit rattle.  She is wearing a beautiful skirt and blouse painted in yellow  with red stripes.  Her elaborate headdress is held by a chin strap.  Her yellow face highlighted by black bitumen - a type of natural asphalt. Size: 7" W x 11.5" H (17.8 cm x 29.2 cm)
