Description
Pre-Columbian, Northern Highlands, Cajamarca, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. Two nesting round-bottomed Cajamarca bowls from northern Peru made from an orange tinted kaolin, the exterior walls decorated with a register of bold, diamond-shaped patterns painted in chocolate brown against a white ground and bordered by a thick red line on the bottom (the larger also punctuated by a short chocolate brown line beneath this red border) and a thin chocolate brown line near the rim, the inner rim adorned with a thick red border. A lovely pair of ancient Andean pottery bowls. Size: 10.25" W x 4" H (26 cm x 10.2 cm)
