Civil War Ames U.S. Model 1832 Foot Artillery Sword. 19-inch double-edged, wide blade. Marked "N. AMES / SPRINGFIELD" beneath a spread-wing eagle. Cast brass hilt, the grips scalloped to suggest eagle's feathers. Straight cross quillons stamped on one side "IIV".

Condition: Very good. Traces of gilt on the brass hilt. Blade with a smooth, grey patina with an area of light pitting to one side of the blade.
