Half-Stock Plains Percussion Rifle with Rare P&S Remington Marking on Barrel.Â
Unserialized, .44 caliber, 36-inch barrel marked: P&S REMINGTON. Octagonal to round barrel with front and rear sight. Lock marked R PATRICK & C. and lightly scroll engraved, Walnut half-stock. Wooden ramrod present. . Brass patchbox to right side of stock. Brass furniture and accents.
Note: According to an article in the American Rifleman Magazine (NRA), the author states "It is thought that for the first 30 years of business, Remington produced only rifled barrels at the forge in Ilion. Remington received so many orders, they allowed him to start a real factory along the Erie Canal in Ilion. And, by 1828, he was firmly established as the area's premiere barrel maker. Numerous examples of flintlock and percussion rifles bear the name "REMINGTON" and "P & S REMINGTON" on their barrels, having been completed as rifles by gunmakers throughout New York and well into New England."

Condition: Fair to good. Barrel mostly a dark gray patina with noticeable wear and pitting. Stock with numerous dents, bruising and mars. Some repairs/cracks. Marred screws. Action good. Bore okay.
