Pastel on fine period grey (laid) pastel paper, probably Ingres, landscape with extensive sky, attributed* to/in the manner of Claude Monet (1840-1926). Signed and dated '87, lower left. 7 1/4 x 10 inches. Very good condition (was examined out of its frame). May be removed from frame for post-auction shipping if requested.

Provenance: Abel Lauvray, presumably acquired directly from the artist, who was Lauvray's neighbor. Acquired from the latter by Andre Mavon (Saint-Honore, Paris) and subsequently by the consignor's father, a West Coast collector who was a long time friend and client of Mavon's. Thence by descent to his heirs.
