[Space/Von Puttkamer, Jesco] Archive of documents, some signed, containing about 18 printed books (softcover, mostly published for NASA), handwritten notes, articles and photocopies from the collection of Jesco von Puttkamer, an engineer who worked for NASA beginning in 1962, where he worked under Wernher von Braun. Von Puttkamer worked on the Apollo program leading up to the moon landing in 1969 and thereafter. He later worked on the International Space Station. Topics of the items present here include include Skylab, NASA missions, biomedical research, space research as an applied science and the administrative and organizational history of NASA. ++ About 15 items hand-written by Puttkamer, many on legal pads incl. sketches, drafts of lectures, notes and working papers. ++ At least 3 hand signatures by J. von Puttkamer: SPACE RESEARCH: DIRECTIONS FOR THE FUTURE. 3-Volume set, each signed at upper corner of front wrap. Space Science Board, National Academy of Sciences-National Research Council, Dec. 1965 - Feb 1966, 4to, softcover, good to very good. ++ Several other items have owner’s stamp (“Jesco von Puttkamer”) at upper corner of front wrap or first leaf. ++ Date range of items: Mostly late 1960s to early 2000s. Mostly 4to, approx. 3 linear feet of material.
