c. 1775 Revolutionary War Era Gang Type Bullet Mold
c. 1775 Revolutionary War-Era, Gang Type Bullet Mold, Forged Brass, with Maker's Marking and Handles, Choice Very Fine.
This original Gang Bullet Mold is 6.5” long, hinged, with four mold cavities for different sized musket balls which measure about .750, .600, .560 and .520. There is a maker's marking on one side of a I or J is prominently placed. The 2.5” long wooden handles are present, but the right one has been repaired with glue. This scarce type is similar to an example pictured in Neumann’s “Battle Weapons of the American Revolution” (1998) page 21, also see page 190 of “Collector’s Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution.”
