Description
A lovely Maya polychrome bowl from the Sula Valley region of Honduras, ca. AD 400 – 800, an unusual example decorated with three registers of zoomorphic Underworld creatures, some segmented, some caught in nets. The interior is covered with an orange wash surrounding a negative resist design and the bottom is covered with cross hatching. Dia: 6 ¼ in. Good mineral deposits. Ex Tribal Treasures Gallery.
