Description
A nice Greek ceramic figure of a banqueter, 6th Century BC, depicting a male, perhaps Dionysos, reclining on a couch, his face nicely detailed and his hair in locks descending to his shoulders. H: 7 in (17.8 cm); W: 6 in (15.2 cm). Surface mineralization throughout. The piece is nicely kept within a custom antique box. Cf. Mollard-Besques, Catalogue Raisonné des Figurines et Reliefs en Terre-Cuite Grecs, Étrusques et Romains I, Louvre. (Paris, 1934), p. 63, nos. 415 & 416 and pl. XLIII for similar examples. Ex collection of Manou Mobedshahi.
