Second half 19th century, 55 x 58 cm, North West Persia, Azerbaijan
A knotted face of a khorjin half. The green field is entirely taken up by a red rectangle enclosing a smaller white-ground rectangle with hooked sides; its central design is a hooked octagon which may constitute the tribal gül. The soft pile wool with a silky lustre is a typical feature of these Kurdish weavings. – Good condition.
