Item Details
Description
Roman Britain, ca. 1st to early 5th centuries CE. A round, dimpled beaker with a small, flat foot with a slight rolled edge; this flares outward into a deep bowl that then gently slants to a slightly inward-facing rim. Stamped decorations around the body give a nice texture to the exterior. This type of pottery is most likely London-type ware, an early Romano-British pottery production, which took place at large production centers in places like the Nene Valley (north of Cambridge) and attempted to imitate the Continental Roman Samian Ware in a grey fabric, using roller stamps. Size: 5.1" W x 5.2" H (13 cm x 13.2 cm)
