Description
"Dag" knife from the American Indian Fur Trade period. Original handle carved from a single piece of wood with a characteristic shape. Iron blade. Used for multiple purposes, including skinning and butchering. Often called a \"stabber\" knife. Due to a quickly-growing demand, most of these knives were often made in and imported from Britain. However, this particular knife was most likely manufactured by a local American craftsman for the specific purposes of the Fur Trade. Circa late 1700's/early 1800's.
