Rare first edition. Important work of astrology, where Titi revised and reformed the doctrines of astrologers as a result of the dominance of the 'new' astronomy and the tenets of Cartesian philosophy. Placidus de Titis was a major figure in the subsequent reforming movement in astrology. According to the historian Lyn Thorndike, he became a patron saint for other astrologers of the time. The first part outlines the main canons of "heavenly philosophy" and the principles of astronomical observation; follow astrological examples applied to thirty famous people, including B. G. Cardano, Henry IV, Charles V, Ferdinand Gonzaga, etc. Finally the Tabulae, at the end of which are embossed put logarithmic tables of absolute numbers from 1 to 10.00. Specimen of prestigious origin, belonged to the famous astrologer Giobbi Fortebracci, for thirty years, starting in 1694, astrological advisor of Vittiorio Amedeo II of Savoy. Small restoration on Frontispiece, slight yellowing, fine copy.
