Item Details
Description
Italy, Etruscan culture, ca. 768 to 264 BCE. A beautifully formed oinochoe, or pouring vessel, with a cylindrical handle flowing from top of rim to shoulder and a trefoil spout. The coil-made form is clear and it sits on a round foot. Bucchero is a specifically Etruscan style for firing pottery which results in a smooth, shiny black finish. This type of jug may have been made specifically to be buried with offerings, as much fine Etruscan pottery was. Size: 5.75" W x 7" H (14.6 cm x 17.8 cm)
