3rd-4th century AD. A gold ring with thin round shank, flaring shoulders with punched dot decoration in the form of scrolls; raised bezel with engraved intaglio depicting a deity, possibly Mercury. 5.31 grams, 22.37mm overall, 20.94mm internal diameter (approximate size British W 1/2, USA 11 1/4, Europe 25.66, Japan 24) (1"). Property of a West Yorkshire lady; from the private collection of John Moore, Brigantia Antiquities, York, UK, 23 May 2010 (accompanied by the original Certificate of Authenticity/receipt number 10278); acquired by John Moore in the 1960s.
