Superb album of original photographs of India and her people. One of the photographs is signed Bourne in the negative, with number 1904 and caption in the negative "Group of Bhooteas Darjeeling." Records indicate this photograph was taken by Samuel Bourne in 1869. Other views include Bathing Ghat, Calcutta; Mountain Musician; Group of Priests in the Mountains; Street Scene - Bombay; Taj from top of entrance gate, Agra; Group of Fakirs, Bombay; Barber, Common scene in India; Group of Hill People, Woman at mill; and many more. Though the views of such architectural marvels as the Taj Mahal and the Mausoleum of Humayun are quite striking, it is the numerous photographs of the peoples of India that make this album quite exceptional.
