Description
Ogata Gekko (1859-1920) was a Japanese artist best known as a painter and designer of ukiyo-e woodblock prints. He was never classically trained in a school or held an artistic apprenticeship, so as a self-taught artist he developed his own style and did not abide to any rules. Due to his innovative style he won numerous awards nationally and internationally.
