Description
A large Maya tetrapod plate from the Ulua Valley of Honduras, ca. 250 - 700 AD. This gorgeous polychrome example is 12 in in diameter and features a standing Maya lord in full ceremonial regalia in the center of the tondo. The broadly flared rim is decorated with panels depicting dancers, harvest rituals and important textile designs. Even the exterior and underside are elaborately decorated and the hollow legs contain rattles. Ex New World Artifacts Gallery.
