Description
A fine Quimbaya retablo figure from the Middle Cauca region of Colombia, ca. 1200 - 1400 AD. This seated figure is 10 in high and is posed with the right hand raised and the other reaching toward the left leg. The head and body have the characteristic perforations, with the typical incised slits creating the enigmatic expression these figurines are famous for. Ex Orlando estate. Cf. Labbe 'Colombia Before Columbus', page 74.
