Philippines, 20th century CE. This is a really sweet carved wooden bird standing on a fish and holding a fish in its mouth. The brightly colored bird is a sarimanok, a legendary symbol of good fortune for the Maranao people from the island of Mindanao, the large southermost island in the Philippines. Size: 8.6" W x 9.75" H (21.8 cm x 24.8 cm)
